Sheriff Bart: Well dont just sit there looking stupid, grasping your hands in pain. He ends up fighting on the winning side anyway. He cant even hold a gun, much less shoot it. Then again, Mel Brooks plays all of this for laughs… so don't bother feeling too bad for old Mongo. So even though Mongo might seem like an unthinking brute, we find out that he actually knows his place in life quite clearly and even feels a little sad about it. As noted in the LAT review, the ad line for Blazing Saddles was Never Give a Saga an Even. When asked what he knows about Hedley Lamarr's plans for the railroad, Mongo shows us his poetic side by saying, The working titles of the film were Tex X and Black Bart. Especially his very first, as the sheriff disguises himself. So even though Mongo might seem like a big gorilla on the surface, he's actually a loyal softie at heart. When tv channel AMC would show movies, like any of Mel Brookss movies, they are indeed classic. Mongo impressed, have deep feelings for Sheriff Bart." But when Sheriff Bart outsmarts Mongo with an exploding box of candy, Mongo can't help but think, But wasn’t there a scene where Mongo in a deep sea diving garb and another that slips my mind I have seen Blazing Saddles probably about 20 times. They showed Bart giving Mongo a CandyGram. on Dish Satellite’s HD Movie Channel (Channel 130) But I do think a scene or two was cut out when Sheriff Bart was capturing Mongo. The original patriarch was Nathaniel Taggart, who built a transcontinental railroad in the late 1800s, when this film is set. Watched Blazing Saddles last night, uncut. The famous Ayn Rand novel 'Atlas Shrugged' features the Taggart family. People feels this way because Mongo has the strength of ten men and will basically do whatever he's told. Slim Pickens plays a character named Taggart, a railroad man. "Well, Mongo ain't exactly a 'who.' He's more of a 'what.'" This guy is portrayed more like an animal than a human being in this movie, because he's a huge, terrifying strongman.
